Description
This photograph was taken in Tennessee, at Piney Falls Natural Area. It features an overhand from a cliff wall in one of the many gorges. The unusual geological structure seen represents the effects of water seeping through the sandstone, over a long period of time. Miniature mineral deposits in each droplet of water created these shapes, each of which continue to leak when it rains, leaving associated and distinct indentations in the hardened ground below.
